Our School's Language Program

Hello! Bonjour! Hola! Ni Hao!
This page discusses the extent of the language program at the Baton Rouge International School.

On Campus

At the Baton Rouge International School, there are obvious signs that you are in an international environment. From the children's work displayed in the hallways to the teachers name tags, you are always surrounded by a globally diverse community.

Teachers

Our teachers are from all over the world. In fact, most of them have both taught and lived in several different countries. Because to this, we are able  to be opened minded and have different perspectives on current events. We also find ourselves enriched in a culturally diverse environment. Since we are taught each language by native speakers, we have more common knowledge on that culture and we can also perfect our accents! Not all of our Spanish and French teachers come from the same regions, which works to our advantage. We can expand our vocabulary and better understand the different pronunciations of each language.

In The Classroom

The Baton Rouge International School focuses immersing its students into each language. Students do not simply learn about the grammar and vocabulary of each language - they are taught math concepts, social studies, sciences and more in each language too! Current world events are also worked into the curriculum of each language class. During this time, students discuss global issues and learn ways in which they can solve them.

It is because of these reasons why the language curriculum of the Baton Rouge International School differs immensely from the language curriculum of other schools. Each student with a language foundation from the Baton Rouge International School will undoubtedly be set apart from other bilingual students across the globe due to our unique and rigorous program.
