Weaving Project
Hi Everyone!
Over the past couple of weeks, my visual arts project has been a little out there (as usual), but it never ceased to entertain me. Anyway, we had to create a pattern that we would eventually weave; along with creating a costume design that incorporates our woven pieces. And let me tell you, weaving is no joke. I've had to learn that the hard way. But here's a little tip I've learned: when you're practically broke but magically have some cardboard, a pair of scissors, and A LOT of yarn, you can still weave a beautiful piece. All you have to do is cut the cardboard to the size you want your woven masterpiece to be and cut little tabs along the sides you want weave. These tabs will keep your yarn in place for the sorcery that is about to take place. Next, you just wrap your yarn around your cardboard making sure they are nice and cozy between those amazing tabs. Then VOILA! You can now start weaving.
But wait... Is your pattern really intricate and relatively small? Do you not have a yarn needle? Are your fingers dying in pain from constantly pinching the yarn? Well fear no more! I found two of my new best friends because of these reasons: tape and tweezers. They saved my finger tips from never-ending pain. Now, if you have some tape and/or a pair of tweezers laying around the house, claim them in the name of weaving (or just borrow them until you're done weaving)! The next step is to wrap the end of your yarn in tape so that you can easily grab the piece without damaging it. Now, go on and weave 'till your heart's content.
Below I've taken the liberty of providing you with pictures of what my weaving project looked like.
