Theory of Knowledge

Sense Perception Presentations

Hi Everyone!

We were introduced to Theory of Knowledge (TOK) with our first unit, sense perception. Throughout this unit, we learned whether or not we can trust our 5 senses. We were exposed to many examples and experiments that showed us how our senses can be wrong or inaccurate. We learned that our brain can affect our senses just as much as our senses affect our brain. To conclude this unit, we made presentations on different topics that involved sense perception. My presentation was about Wine Tasting. TOK is a very free range class, which is why I think it can be considered one of the hardest areas to study (but interesting nonetheless)! Most of the time there is no right or wrong answer because its all based on opinion and perception. My wine tasting research not only introduced me to a new hobby ;) but also taught me how without taste perception wine tasting would not work. From synesthesia to having a crush on your mom, this unit was always interesting and always surprised me. Even though this unit is over, I know that I can never really stop learning about sense perception. I am look forward to our new unit: ethics!

  2. I say that all senses are interesting because they all affect each other. However, if I had to pick one it would be taste. That may be just because I love food!
